Ponies can eat up to 1 percent of their body weight (in dry matter) in just three hours when out on certain pastures. They can eat up to 5 percent over 24 hours. This basically means that in theory, a small pony could be eating as many calories as a racing Thoroughbred! And you thought your pony was just “big boned” LOL!
