According to a study done by researchers at the University of Liverpool, polo ponies are no more likely to be injured than horses in the general population. The only factor that seemed to increase a horse’s likelihood of injury was being stabled all season long. Go figure- with mallets flying around, horses bumping into each other, and tight turns, there’s no added risk!
